The Unity plugin is looking good!

Here is an update on the Unity front. Let's see if a screenshot is worth a thousand words:

This is the same terrain generation you see in other screenshots and videos I have posted. This image in particular was not created by me, but by some very talented guys who took the Voxel Farm engine and are using it from Unity.

The sky and clouds in the screenshot is a box with a static image on it, it is not related to the clouds and sky streak of posts I had earlier. The thing is, once you are in Unity there are several plugins that will do real-time skies for you. Actually there are plugins that will do real-time anything for you. That is the point. We are hoping to become another one.

    1. I have watched the progress of this sort of dream, I have been dreaming of sort a planet exploring/colonising rpg fps with some what I think is very complex AI systems and and material resources and I want to be able to visualise everything :D I think maybe in a few years I hope to enjoy such a simulator i know it will far from easy but watching miguels work and stuff from Proland and Outerra things are looking promising.

  3. I would be very interested in something like this on Unity... This is great stuff! I was worried i'd never be able to use this if it came out as an engine on it's own because I'm just too invested into Unity at the moment, but if your procedural generation is accessible from Unity, well that'd be crazy awesome!

  4. I recently started to use Unity, and I found it a very nice engine! Because you can do a lot of things, and make the developing of games a bit easier!

  5. That's what I was waiting for: integration!

  7. As a Unity dev I really like this step. Great!

I´m wondering why there are some visible edges in the scene on the right rocks close to the camera and on the left in the shadows. Looks like an normal map smoothing issue...

  8. As someone currently on a course which looks at unity and says "Meh" (Not saying it is bad, it has its uses on several areas, but it also limits in other ways =P) I do hope this wont impact your work on the actual project right?

Also, did you do any work recently on the non-minecraft-like version of the project?

  9. As an unity dev, I am really loving the unity port. I wish I were those guys who are working on it. Lucky bastards!! I am looking forward to do the "real-time anything" that I am already capable of doing on unity with your Voxel Farm. But I can imagine that the price will be quite forbidden for most indie dev. BTW, Really motivational and inspirational work for most os us.

But the thing that really cracked me:
Is there COMIC SANS used in the Window title bar and Menus!??! \:D/ Whaahaaaaa incredible!!

    1. Its piracy protection, theyve taken years to develop an immunity to the Comic Sans font, thus being the only people able to use it. To buy their product, you will have to go through a several year long mentoring, in which they teach you how to bear the comic sans font.
To anyone pirating it, their minds will blow with rage and they shall quit, and never return. (=P)

  11. Looks amazing! Could you comment on status/plans of the terrain interacting with Unity collision primitives, and dynamic modifications?

  14. This is fantastic! I'm very excited that you're considering Unity when you're developing this stuff, and if you decide to release this as a plugin I will be first in line to buy it!

  16. I have a question about the system requirements. What should be the frequency of the CPU, RAM and video memory?

  17. Is this stuff flexible? I have quite different requirements but something like this would be mind blowing in my scenario and should perform well too.

Here's the sort of thing i'm trying to build:

My current code does the island generation and I have even added in some atmospheric looking sky. i'm guessing that your magic tricks are done in the shaders as the meshing looks pretty standard?

Would you be interested in posting some details on your shader code or some samples? (that might be a bit too much to ask, but i'd love some hints)

    Awesome work as usual :)

    1. I emailed you miguel at voxelfarm.com. Is this your correct email? I understand you don't want bots picking up your email so I typed it as you have on your profile.
